The Tiki Hut

This girl is the epitome of optimism.

Last March my cousin Mandy & her family moved to Plymouth, Washington, just 30 minutes away from me.

This girl inspires me.

She...
has lived in Brazil for 2 years,
is battling cancer,
is raising an autistic son,
AND
has opened a Tiki Hut selling Gourmet Shaved Ice in Hermiston, Oregon...all with a smile on her face!!

So, as our Great Great Great Great Uncle Mark Twain said,
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Doranna,

It was so great to hear from you! To answer your question, Mandy underwent radiation for a tumor on her thyroid about 18 months ago. Her thyroid was ultimately removed, but cancer cells were detected again last month. She is preparing for radiation again in a few months.

She's a trooper & seems to be handling everything just fine. Love that girl. Hope all is well with you! I tried to find a blog of yours, but didn't have any luck, so I hope you get this comment!
