Little Happenings

I haven’t been taking as many pictures as I would like these days, but June has been a very unique month for us – coming back to the States, preparing for baby, getting settled at my in-laws, celebrating birthdays, getting settled in Pingree, preparing for baby again, & then finally, welcoming my husband home.

We’re all together as a family again.  We’re loving summertime.  We’re so blessed.

I can only think of one word to express my emotions.  Gratitude.  Gratitude for good health, safe travels, family, friends, support, love, barbecues, swimming parks, & so many more simple things that I always took for granted.

We celebrated Carlie’s birthday at my mom & dad’s place last month.  She got her first bike & a bubble machine among too many other gifts that she was spoiled with. ;)

I made a pink lemonade cake…twice.  The first one took hours.  It was nearly a masterpiece.  I didn’t know what the heck I was doing, but I thought I could figure it out.  I was wrong.  It looked horrible.  I tried to fix it, but I made it worse.  I resorted to a simple sheet cake & decided that I am in need of some serious practice in the cake making department.

Cousin Lily is such a cutie pie.  My girls love hanging out with her.

This is what my mom & dad’s living room looks like when those 3 little girls get together.  I should submit this photo to Disney’s Family Fun Magazine.  My dad’s playing some favorite classics out of an old 1960 Disney songbook (Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf, Davey Crockett, Sleeping Beauty’s I Know You).  Priceless.

And finally (for now), swimming lessons which was every day for 2 weeks in at the Blackfoot Swimming Pool.  Both girls rocked Level 1 and had a great time.

Can’t wait to post all the fun times at the Wolfley homestead – horse riding, swinging, playing with Wolfer, eating Creamies (I’ll stop already).

Turning 28

I’m on the fence about turning 28 yesterday.  I once knew a girl who told me that growing old was fun.  I think about that a lot.  As my husband always says, “It’s all a matter of perspective.”  This is true.  When I’m 35, I’ll think 28 is young, so I might as well think it’s young now.  Celebration is in order all month long.

I prefer milkshakes on my birthday, so we called an urgent family meeting at Rupe’s to scrap cake & grab a shake.

Delicious…and motivating.  I’m pretty sure that in the above picture I’m deciding that the last 2 years of my 20s are going to be wild.  Maybe I’ll get a manicure…or start wearing jewelry.  Better yet, I might even find me a fashionable pair of shoes or a cute outfit on-line.  Okay, that last one might be living on the edge.

Eight Years

Once upon a time, an Idaho piano girl

and an Idaho farm boy (who is really a genius)

felt a connection they chose to explore.

Here we are…eight years later…still trying to perfect the art of being in love, becoming one tree, not two.

Picture of the two of us should be inserted here.  I’ll work on that.  Maybe it’s appropriate that I don’t have one seems how I’m a widow at the moment.

I can’t decide what’s more shocking to me  – the little fact that we’ve been married for eight years or the sad fact that we’re spending our anniversary away from each other.  My in-laws took me out to my favorite restaurant tonight.  Very nice, but we were definitely missing someone. ;)
